The mission of the Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (MOFAS) is to eliminate birth defects caused by alcohol consumption during pregnancy and to improve the quality of life for those individuals and families affected. MOFAS works collaboratively within communities to provide resources and support for families living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). In 2004 MOFAS (Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome) launched the FASD Statewide Initiative as a result of legislation passed by the Minnesota legislature. This legislation allowed the Minnesota Department of Health to create a contract with MOFAS to develop a statewide program that includes FASD prevention and intervention services and programs.

Through community grants, professional education, public awareness and diagnostic services MOFAS is working to reach individuals affected by FASD, their families and caregivers, and providers across Minnesota.
